Born on this day in 1934- Leonard Cohen, the greatest poet among musicians. “In company of his songs even solitude feels good”, someone said once. He worked relentlessly in his final years releasing three studio and three live albums and toured the world twice. Both times he stopped in Ljubljana, in 2009 he broke attendance record in than new Arena Stožice. He came back four years later and stayed in the city for five days since he liked it so much the first time. I helped the promotor with press activities and after the show I was invited to meet him. You feel humble meeting the great man, especially when he motions you to come and meet him (gently pushing away the politicians that came to greet him), says “come friends, let’s have drink” (to me and my girlfriend), introduces himself with “Leonard, nice to meet you”. “I’m Mimi, I’m helping with PR.” “Yes, I know who you are” and than grabs ice cubes, puts them in glass, pours vodka for us and him, raises glass and asks “did you like the show?” Mr. Cohen.
